Mt. Zion Christian Preschool is located in Howard County, Maryland, in Highland.
The preschool was established as a mission of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in 1989.
Mt. Zion Christian Preschool strives to assist each child to realize his or her maximum potential
in the areas of social, cognitive, physical, emotional, and spiritual development.
Our goals include:
- Sharing the love of God through Christ with children, families, and the community
- Enabling parents to understand their children better and be more effective in their parenting role
- Providing a happy, safe, and healthy environment in which children can play, learn, and grow
Our curriculum includes learning about God’s word through prayer and stories. Early literacy and
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) concepts are taught through science, math and
social studies activities, and learning about shapes, colors, numbers, and letters. Daily activities include
circle time, singing, art and gross motor activities, learning centers, and snack.
We play a lot. We believe that play is an important part of learning. When children play with purpose,
they learn about themselves and the world around them. During our play time, children make friends,
learn social skills, look at books, use building materials, share, explore how things work, listen to music,
and play cooperatively.
Our staff is certified in first-aid and CPR. In addition, they participate in on-going professional development
through classes, workshops, and conferences throughout the year.
Mt. Zion Christian Preschool is a non-denominational preschool. We welcome children from all religious affiliations.
We do not discriminate against race, sex, religion, color, national, and ethnic origin.
