Every January, we make resolutions and set goals, hoping this year we will be wiser, stronger, or better than the last. But what if the best place to start isn’t with our plans, but with our hearts? When Solomon began his reign, he asked God for wisdom, not wealth, not fame, not power. It was a good beginning. Yet even the wisest person in Scripture reminds us that wisdom isn’t just something you receive once, it’s something you must keep guarding and growing throughout life.

In this three-week series, we’ll look at Solomon’s story from his rise to his downfall: the promise of wisdom, the seduction of success, and the tragedy of compromise. Along the way, we’ll learn that real wisdom is found not in knowing everything, but in staying close to the One who does. As we begin a new year, may Solomon’s story help us ask for the right things, remain grounded when blessings come, and finish the year as faithfully as we began.
