Build a New Home

Progress Report

Our Build-a-Home project is entering the home stretch, with construction scheduled to begin on September 28. Please continue to pray for a safe trip and completion of the house by October 30. We still need workers, particularly during weeks 1, 2 and 5. If you might be interested, please contact Rick Johnson (301-490-2092) or Rod Barr (410-730-4919). Despite our very successful fundraising campaign, we are still short of our $50,000 goal needed to cover all construction costs.

During Mission: Mississippi in April, three of us visited Camp Love in Gulfport, where we have not previously worked, to meet the staff and understand differences in operations there from those at Camp Hope, where we have previously worked. Based on our valuable Mission: Mississippi2009 new home building experience, we have developed a detailed Build a Home Work Plan, and are confident that we can complete our home in October if we fill our volunteer rosters for each week. We need particularly your continued prayers, and also your commitments to come to Mississippi at a specified time to help build the —Maryland House. If you come, your life will be enriched, and you may return home a changed person.
