Confirmation Class Starts in October

A Confirmation Orientation/Potluck will be held for parents and their children on Wednesday October 3rd at 6:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. Families are asked to bring a dish to share as we explore our Confirmation 2007/2008 Opportunities!

Confirmation is a significant event in the faith journey of our children. It is the setting in which young people can say “yes” to the touch of God in their lives and choose what their relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church will be. Confirmation will be taught by Barb Jacques and Pastor Malcolm Stranathan. The confirmation class is open to any youth entering eighth grade (this Fall) or higher.

This year confirmation at Mt. Zion includes a sixteen-week course spread through the Fall and Winter of 2007-2008. There are some firm requirements for participation in confirmation: weekly participation in worship, youth group activities, retreats and occasionally church business meetings. Each confirmand will be given a takehome project to complete between the Fall and Winter sessions. Each confirmand will have the opportunity to select a mentor (from Mt. Zion’s active professing members) who is willing to share his or her faith journey with the confirmand.

Please register for confirmation by contacting Barb Jacques at barbjacques@verizon.net
