Please Help Support Our Missionaries

Mt. Zion has a covenant relationship with Nan McCurdy and her husband Miguel Mairena in Nicaragua, and with Suzanne Porter in Liberia. Nan and Miguel work with the "Women in Community" organization which helps, empowers, and advocates for women and their needs in rural Nicaragua. Suzanne works in the school of nursing at the Ganta Medical Complex in Liberia. In case you missed the opportunity to contribute last week, Please consider supporting their vital work. We are hoping to increase our level of support, as we haven't done so in at least five years.

Sandwiches Being Made for the Homeless in the Fellowship Hall

Every second Sunday of the month, sandwiches are made from 9:30 to 10:30 am for the homeless of the DC area. Our monthly goal is to make at least 1,200 sandwiches which are taken to a distribution center in DC. All are welcome to come and help make sandwiches.

If you are not helping with VBS this year, please consider donating water bottles and/or food items for the VBS helpers. You can take your donations to the kitchen and label them VBS. Thanks!

A training meeting for all VBS volunteers will be held in Conference Room 1 at 7:00 pm TONIGHT. If you did not attend the meeting on July 7th you must attend tonight’s meeting!

All participants of VBS are invited with your families to a cook-out on Wednesday, July 16th at 6:30 pm. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided. Please bring a salad or dessert to share.

As a "thank you" for helping with VBS, all of the youth helpers are invited to a cook-out and camp-out at Mt. Zion on Thursday, July 17th. Please RSVP to Jena Meredith by tomorrow if you would like to attend. More information will be given at the training meeting!

What is that Logo on the Cover?

The logo is a reminder of the Discipleship Adventure the Baltimore-Washington Conference began in 2005. The logo uses red as the dominate color, signifying the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. The circular nature shows movement and energy, both elements of, and results from, the Adventure. The open segment hints at both the inclusiveness of the Adventure as well as being an entry point for the Holy Spirit to break in. It also suggests that the Discipleship Adventure is never complete; the Adventure creates disciples who go deeper, further and wider in their faith. The white lines starting at the base of the logo and moving upwards in an arc are five in number, representing the five elements of the Discipleship Adventure: faithful celebration, faithful connection, faith development, faithful service, and faith sharing.
